Banking & Financial Services
Exposure is assembled by hand before every committee, from systems that disagree, and the position has already moved by the time anyone reads it. When the supervisor asks how a decision was reached, the file is rebuilt from email and recollection. Gothem gives the bank one current, trusted picture of its customers, counterparties, facilities, collateral and limits — and makes every approval, limit change and escalation attributable, authorised and reconstructable exactly as it stood.
The problem
Every credit and risk committee begins with weeks of assembly: core banking, credit, markets, collections and a folder of documents, keyed into a spreadsheet by the people who know which system to ask. By the time the pack is tabled the position has moved, and no one in the room can say by how much.
A supervisor asks why a facility was approved, on what evidence and under whose authority. The application has since been amended, the collateral revalued and the covenants renegotiated, so the answer is reassembled from email, minutes and memory — and offered with a caveat.
Monitoring produces flags; investigators produce context. Each alert opens as an entry in a queue with no counterparty, no transaction history and no record of what was decided when the same name last appeared. The work is retrieval long before it is judgement.
What Gothem changes
Gothem gives the bank one current figure for exposure across customers, products and jurisdictions. Group limits, single-name concentration and connected-party exposure are known on the live position, without replacing a single system the bank already runs.
Gothem records every credit decision against the file exactly as it stood when it was taken. The application, the collateral, the covenants and the authority that approved them can be recalled as they were on the day, not as they read today.
Gothem holds the limit as the institution’s answer rather than a figure on a report. A limit moves only when someone with the authority moves it, and the request, the rationale and the second authority stay attached to the change for good.
Gothem warns of deterioration while there is still time to act — learned from the bank’s own book, and no one else’s. The relationship manager is told inside the picture they already work in, well before the file reaches recovery.
Gothem opens an alert with the customer, the counterparties, the transactions and every prior disposition already assembled. The investigator begins on a position instead of a queue of disconnected flags.
Gothem answers which exposures, whose approval, on what evidence and at which date, from the live position. Answering a supervisor becomes a question the bank puts to itself rather than a project it has to staff.
Custody
Gothem reconstructs the exact state a decision was taken against — the exposure, the limits, the authority, the evidence. What the bank knew, and when it knew it, is recoverable rather than reassembled.
Gothem runs in the jurisdiction the licence requires: your cloud region, the bank’s own data centre, or neutral ground. No one, Gothem included, can look inside without the bank’s approval.
Gothem learns from the bank’s own history and no one else’s. Nothing about the book crosses to another institution, and what the bank understands about its market stays the bank’s advantage.
